About me.

I was born in Savannah, Georgia and have called every southern state along the East Coast home at one point or another. I earned a degree in Communications from the University of South Florida, then spent another two years studying ceramics at UNC Greensboro. No one could have convinced me that one day, I would open a word processing file and never want to go back to my pottery wheel. Now I write in Richmond, Virginia where I live with my husband, two teenagers and a tuxedo cat named Harley.

What I read.

My obsession with fiction began a few of years ago, when I read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in an effort to spark my son’s interest in reading. I buzzed through the entire series in same amount of time it took him to complete the first book.

My love of middle grade and young adult fiction continues to rule my reading habits and I will devour pretty much anything from either genre, but I gravitate to stories with romantic elements—even if there’s just the slightest hint. I do still venture into adult fiction and the occasional historical romance, and I will read anything by my two favorite magical realism authors, Sarah Addison Allen and Alice Hoffman.

What I write.

I write contemporary young adult fiction and middle grade with elements of magic. My contemporary short story, "Canine Connection" was published in the middle grade anthology: RIVER CITY SECRETS: Stories from Richmond (September 2016, Chop Suey Books).

I am a member of SCBWI, James River Writers and Richmond Children’s Writers.
